Did You Know? The Chicago Bulls are a professional basketball team based in Chicago, Illinois. They play in the National Basketball Association (NBA). On July 3, 2006, four-time Defensive Player of the Year Ben Wallace chose to leave Detroit and agreed to sign with the Bulls for what was reported as $60 million over four years. The signing of Wallace allowed the Bulls to trade Tyson Chandler, the last remaining player of the Krause era, to the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets for veteran power forward P.J. Brown and young shooting guard J.R. Smith. Smith's stint as a Bull, however, was short lived. After being acquired in the Chandler-Brown trade, the athletic swingman was sent to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for two future second round picks and veteran Howard Eisley. The one year remaining on Eisley's contract was not guaranteed. His waiver created a roster space for former Bulls co-captain and gritty perimeter defender Adrian Griffin, who has agreed to a three year deal. Griffin left the Bulls via free agency and joined the Dallas Mavericks mid-way through the 2005-06 season. Griffin helped the Mavericks reach the 2006 NBA Finals against the Miami Heat. But this was not the last of General Manager John Paxon's off-season revamp. In mid-August he traded Eddie Basden, a seldom used guard to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Martynas Andriuskevicius, a 7'2" project from Lithuania.
The Bulls have an unofficial tradition of wearing black shoes (regardless of being home or away) during the playoffs, which dates all the way back when Michael Jordan started leading them to the playoffs. It was noted when the Bulls made their first playoff appearance during the 2004-2005 season after a six year hiatus, they went back to the tradition and sported black shoes. Another tradition is that for road contests, they only wear their red road uniforms, never the black alternate uniforms.
