Brazil - The Labor Force and Income Levels
Substantial growth and structural transformations raised Brazil's
per capita income from the low-income range in the late 1950s to
the upper middle-income range in 1980. Despite the economic problems
of the 1980s, per capita income remained in the upper middle-income
range. Structural change had an important effect on employment
and earnings and on income distribution and poverty.
