Coral Springs, formally chartered July 10, 1963, is a city in Broward County, Florida, US. According to the U.S Census estimates of 2005, the city had a population of 128,804.

Location:

Development of downtown areas of Coral Springs is underway around the Sample Road and University Drive region. Additional projects consist of main external renovations to the old Coral Square Mall, and little inside projects.

Demographics

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 117,549 people, 39,522 households, and 31,301 families living in the city of Coral Springs, FL. The population density was 1,898.2/km² (4,916.5/mi²). There were 41,337 residences at an average concentration of 667.5/km² (1,728.9/mi²). The racial composition of the city was 81.55% White, 9.16% Black or African American, 0.18% Native American, 3.53% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 2.99% from other races, and 2.52% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 15.51% of the residents.

There were 39,522 households out of which 48.4% had kids under the age of 18 living with them, 61.4% were married couples living together, 13.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.8% were non-families. 15.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The middling household size was 2.96 and the average family size was 3.30.

In the city of Coral Springs the residents were spread out with 30.7% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 32.3% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 6.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 94.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.8 males.

The median income for a household in Coral Springs was $58,459, and the median income for a family was $64,193. Men had a median income of $45,330 versus $30,898 for women. The per capita earnings for Coral Springs city was $25,282. About 6.3% of families and 8.0% of the residents were below the poverty line, including 9.9% of those below age 18 and 9.0% of those age 65 or above.
