Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated in North America, generally observed as an expression of gratitude. The most common view of its origin is that it was to give thanks to God for the bounty of the autumn harvest. In the United States, the holiday is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November when the family get together for thanksgiving dinner. In Canada, where the harvest generally ends earlier in the year, the holiday is celebrated on the second Monday in October, which is observed as Columbus Day in the United States.

State officials said that unemployment in FL went up 0.3 percent to 7.3 percent in November, the highest it has been in more than 15 years. State economists expect it to get even worse before the recession ends, topping out at around 8 percent next year. The November unemployment rate means that 680,000 people were jobless in Florida. Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation director Monesia T. Brown says one of her top priorities is obtaining more federal money to improve employment services that help get jobless Floridians back to work

The Florida House of Representatives has proposed a great plan to change the way we pay for government services. The proposed Constitutional Amendment would remove the property taxes on homestead property and decrease the tax on non-homestead properties by 20% and make available funding for local government with an additional 2.5% state sales tax which is paid by Floridians and tourists.
