Pompano Beach is a city in Broward County, Florida, along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean just to the north of Fort Lauderdale.
The City of Pompano Beach contains 22.65 square miles and has a permanent population of 101,457 residents. A multi-cultural community that had its beginnings 90 years ago with an attraction to beautiful sandy beaches along its eastern boundary and the growing of agricultural products in the western section, is located in the heart of Florida's "Gold Coast". Today Pompano Beach enjoys three miles of beaches, fishing, diving and all other types of outdoor recreation, due to the very mild year round climate.
Economic Development Organizations
The City of Pompano Beach and the Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce are jointly dedicated to improving the economic well-being and quality of life for all of its citizens. Economic development responsibilities are shared through the efforts of the Pompano Beach Economic Development Council, a public/private partnership of City Officials, business leaders and a professional staff.
Pompano Beach is currently in the middle of a redevelopment process of its neglected beachfront which promises to reinvent the city.
The city has also been listed as one of the top real estate markets being featured in CNN, Money and the Wall Street Journal as one of the country's top vacation home markets.
However, the city's western section remains less polished and is characterized by high crime rates, poverty and strip clubs.
The National Civic League crowned Pompano Beach the coveted All-America City Award. The nation’s longest running and most prestigious civic recognition program.
Pompano Beach is in northeast Broward County along the Atlantic Ocean. It includes about three (3) miles of beachfront that extends from the intersection of Florida State Road A1A and Terra Mar Drive to the Hillsboro Inlet. The city is bounded by the following municipalities:
